Smile For Your Wedding

While planning your wedding, don't forget your teeth. An often overlooked item when planning is your smile! At your ceremony and reception, you will be in close proximity to friends and guests, and of course, there will be lots of photographs. A healthy, radiant smile is a must! Unsightly teeth or gums can detract from your personal appearance and will be captured forever on film.

Also remember, a tooth problem, however, minor at first, could cause unnecessary discomfort during the wedding or reception. And do you really want to have to worry about finding a dentist while on your honeymoon?

Now may also be the time to have that cosmetic dental work you've been thinking about finally done before the wedding. Many dentists today are offering surprisingly affordable, professionally monitored tooth bleaching.

First, personalized molds are taken of your teeth and their present shade is noted. Next, the molded trays and whitener are provided and the proper use explained. After the desired level of whiteness is achieved, the trays can continue to be used to maintain that smile.

Today's whiteners, unlike the harsh bleaching materials of the past, are easier to use and leave less sensitivity. Studies haven't not shown any permanent damage to the teeth and the solutions are approved by the American Dental Association.

Lasers, the hot cosmetic tool of the '90s, are also be used to whiten teeth. One advantage to using lasers is that individual stains can be targeted, as opposed to whitening the entire tooth surface. Laser whitening is more expensive, but may the most efficient way to eradicate a few spots in an otherwise white smile.

So when planning your attire for your wedding day, the first appointment you schedule is with your dentist. This will allow plenty of time for you and your dentist to create the perfect, healthy smile for your perfect day.
