Local (wedding) hair guru, Shaunna Cates of cHAIRish the Day salon has made some serious moves lately. Because of her burgeoning clientele, Shaunna has found herself in a position of expanding into a place all her own.
“What motivated me to move was my goal to have my own storefront. Where we were located before, we had to share with two other businesses, and although we enjoyed everyone’s company, it’s nice to have a space of our own. It is also less confusing for our clients when they walk in the door, and parking is more readily available.”
Previously located on the northeast side of San Antonio, Shaunna located the perfect spot for her new salon, just a hop skip and a jump behind Rolling Oaks Mall. And, it is only 15 minutes away from her last place.
“Road construction was a huge issue at the other place as well. Let’s face it, any kind of construction is a bit stressful. We now feel our clients will feel relaxed and removed from some of the stressors that come along with wedding planning.”
“The salon is situated in a quaint shopping area called Over Yonder and our scenery is beautiful. Looking out our front windows, or from the porch one can see green pastures, literally.”
“We want out clients to feel relaxed and we want them to know they have our undivided attention.”
And we are amazed that you can get that country relaxation only being a couple miles past a busy mall. But this is the area of Bracken, very country, quiet and relaxing, exactly what Shaunna was going for as she was scouting locations.
“Our services are the same as they have been in the past, but we will continue to strive to be better at our craft.”
And brides have been singing her praises for many years now. They all get a sense of being her one and only client, very special. Shaunna and her team travel to many venues to do hair on site too and make sure every bride feels like the beautiful person she wants to see herself being on her wedding day.
“Our new goal is to accomplish a steady clientele for our full service salon, and gain a positive working and personal relationship with our neighbors (businesses surrounding us) and clients.”

These quaint, free standing remodeled cottages all have a distinct look to them, and Shaunna wants everyone to know that her new place is the building painted like the Texas flag.
