Wedding Trend Alert: Gatsby and the 20s

Board provided by The Stylish Soiree

This blogger has been eagerly awaiting the release of the upcoming Baz Luhrmann film, The Great Gatsby, based on the famous novel for at least six months now. I recall seeing the trailer at another movie outing and stopped mid-nacho bite when Leo DiCaprio’s face emblazoned the screen.

It was all-at-once an invasion of my senses. The beautiful vintage dresses and suits, the decadence of the era, champagne corks popping in perfect succession, the melodious jazz music, shiny objects everywhere…I didn’t know where to look next on the screen.

Fast forward five months and I’m sitting in a series of sessions about what the next big things will be for the upcoming year in weddings. I felt like one of the Charlie Brown characters sitting in class astutely still hearing the teacher speaking but because of various other distractions all you hear is, “…blah, blah, blah and wah, wah, wah.”

Then suddenly, as if a tidal wave of clarity washed over me, I heard this, “…and the idea of incorporating The Great Gatsby and feel of the Roaring 20s will be making quite a statement this year.” Well, I couldn’t believe it. I was slightly giddy.

Then realized, of course brides are going to start gravitating to this look and feel. The whole inspiration screams of such a festive vibe, not to mention the absolutely stunning ways you can incorporate this feeling at any price point.

So in honor of the upcoming release of a gorgeous looking film, here are some truly inspired boards for your perusal. Take a look at some very stylish wedding dress options, deco decor, cake, flower and favor selections that are all infused with the 20s.

We always are looking to see how our brides incorporate these national trends on a local level. So if you do get inspired by anything you see here, please don’t forget to snap some pictures for us. Who knows, you could be the next featured couple in the Real Weddings section of the Wedding Guide.
